Sign PDF

Sign a PDF for free without uploading it. Draw your signature with a mouse or finger, type it in a handwriting style, or upload an image of it — then place it anywhere on the page, resize it, and download. Everything happens in your browser, so your document never leaves your device.

Sign PDF — how it works

  1. Open your PDF. Drag in or choose the PDF you need to sign; it opens with a large page view.
  2. Create your signature. Open the Sign tool and draw, type, or upload your signature — it becomes a transparent stamp.
  3. Place and resize. Click the page to drop your signature, then drag it or a corner handle to position and size it. Add it to more pages if needed.
  4. Download. Download the signed PDF with your signature baked in.

Your files never leave your browser

Signing happens entirely in your browser. Your PDF and your signature image are processed on your own device — the signature is drawn onto the page locally and the result is saved straight to your downloads, with no upload and no server ever receiving the file. A strict Content-Security-Policy blocks any outbound transfer, the tool runs offline once loaded, and the web tools are open source so you can verify that your signed contract or form never leaves your computer. For a legally heavier workflow you may still want a dedicated e-signature service, but for adding your own signature privately, nothing leaves your device. Read the privacy policy →

Why use DocLab

Frequently asked questions

Is my document uploaded when I sign it?

No. Your PDF and signature are handled locally in your browser and are never sent to a server.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

Yes, completely free with no account or sign-up, and no watermark on the signed file.

How can I create the signature?

Three ways: draw it with a mouse or finger, type your name in a handwriting font, or upload a PNG/JPG of your signature. All become a transparent stamp you can place and resize.

Is this a legally binding e-signature?

It adds a visible signature image to the PDF. It is not a certificate-based digital signature; for regulated e-signing with audit trails, use a dedicated e-signature provider.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes — on a touch device you can draw your signature directly with your finger, then place and resize it.
